Understanding ADHD starts with understanding the person.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect attention, impulse control, activity levels, organisation, time management and emotional regulation. It can look very different from one person to another and may be recognised in childhood or much later in adult life.
Some people experience obvious restlessness or impulsivity. Others mainly struggle with concentration, starting or completing tasks, forgetfulness, overwhelm or inconsistent performance. A person can be intelligent, successful or academically able and still experience significant ADHD-related difficulties.
Common experiences
- Losing track of tasks
- Procrastination
- Difficulty prioritising
- Missing appointments
- Interrupting
- Becoming intensely focused on interesting activities
- Struggling with routine tasks
- Feeling that everyday organisation requires disproportionate effort
An ADHD assessment does not begin with the assumption that ADHD is the answer. A robust assessment considers the pattern of symptoms, how long they have been present, the settings in which they occur, their effect on daily life and whether another explanation may better account for the difficulties.
At 101 Clinic, our ADHD pathway is designed to provide clinical clarity and practical next steps. If ADHD is diagnosed, your report can help you understand your profile and the support options that may be relevant. If the diagnostic criteria are not met, the assessment can still provide useful findings and recommendations.
