An ADHD diagnosis is a starting point, not an end point. The right support can make a real difference to focus, organisation, relationships and wellbeing.
Treatment options
In line with NICE guidance, treatment may include:
- Medication, such as stimulant or non-stimulant medicines, where clinically appropriate
- Titration: a period of careful dose adjustment and monitoring to find the right medication and dose
- Psychoeducation to help you understand ADHD and how it affects you
- Practical strategies and support for work, study and daily life
Starting and monitoring medication
Medication is only prescribed after assessment by a suitably qualified clinician, and involves physical health checks and regular reviews. Once your dose is stable, your care may be transferred to your GP under a shared care agreement, depending on your GP’s agreement.
