Diagnosis can answer an important question. The next step is deciding what support is useful.
Neurodevelopmental support should reflect the individual. Some people primarily want a better understanding of themselves. Others need help with work, education, family routines, emotional wellbeing or ADHD treatment.
Following assessment, recommendations
- Psychoeducation
- Practical strategies
- Reasonable adjustments
- Psychological support
- Coaching or referral to other professionals. For ADHD
- Medication may also be considered where clinically appropriate
A diagnosis does not automatically mean medication, and medication is not the only form of support. The right approach depends on clinical need, preference and the person’s circumstances.
For children, recommendations may involve parents/carers and education settings. For adults, they may include workplace or university adjustments and strategies for executive functioning, communication or sensory needs.
Where a service is not provided directly by 101 Clinic, we aim to be clear about this and signpost appropriately rather than creating the impression that every recommendation is delivered in-house.
Use our post-assessment, medication, shared care, school support and workplace support pages to understand the main routes available after assessment.
